Yogas during Pregnancy Period

‘Pregnancy’ is a precious and important event in every woman’s life. Today one can well plan to become pregnant when needed and take well care to have a healthy child.

Pregnancy period is very important period to make the Childs growth proper. The healthy pregnant period is very important to have a normal and safe labour… Yoga practise makes an important role for this healthy pregnancy and safe labour.

The physical and psychological status of the women plays major role in pregnancy. Present days the physical work for women is less compare to older days. Earlier days they are used to do lot of sitting works and home routines, which makes their pelvic region stronger, now all those works like, grinding, washing etc, replaced by machines. So the exercises, body movement is less compare to earlier days, so the pelvic region and abdominal muscles are weaker compare to earlier days… Present days most women’s were doing more mental work so the stress levels also more. The yoga practises helpful to reduce stress level, and make the body active, so yoga is a very important practise during pregnancy periods.

Generally the stress leads to psychological, neurological, immunological changes in human’s body. This imbalance or changes leads to lot of pregnancy complications like miscarriage, Improper fatal development etc in pregnant women’s. Generally to overcome from these the pregnant women’s going for painkillers and other medicines, these have a lot of side effects on the embryo, and the mother too.

Recent days the number of surgical labour and miscarriage is increased highly because of these mental stress and lack of physical activity.

The best way to over come from all pregnancy related problem is yoga. With reference to the health the yoga gives the exercises to the body and relaxation to the mind, which is what a pregnant woman really needed noway days.

But during pregnancy all yoga practises should not be done. They need some special asana and breathing exercises which will helpful to strengthen the pelvic region and help to become calm.

The first three month of the pregnancy one should not do any yoga poses, because this is the stage were the formation and beginning the growth of embryo takes place so any pressure to the ovary may leads to miscarriage, so only pranayama can be done during those time. After 3 months of pregnancy one can do yoga asana till 8 months with proper guidance; where as after 3 months of labour one can restart yoga.

The general yoga practises which are more effective during pregnancy are as below:

Tadasana1&2, trikonasana, katiparivartasana, vrkshasana, dhruvasana, arda chakrasana, tiryak tadasana, ardha pada hastasana, partial badda konasana and upavista konasana, marjarasana, vakrsana, balasana, shavasana, yoga nidra. Some simple stretching’s like neck shoulder, ankle rotation also helpful. Pranayamas with out holding breath is helpful during pregnancy. The nadishuddi, ujjayi, sheetali and bhramari are more effective pranayams for pregnant women. The practise of trataka kriya is helpful to overcome from stress. The ‘Om’ meditation is advisable for pregnant women.

Note: Especially during pregnancy one should do yoga with proper teacher’s guidance, other wise it will harm the practitioner. So never try with the help of books or CD’s.

It has proved by lot researches that with good practise of yoga one can overcome from lot of pregnancy related problems…So it’s generally for pregnant women yoga is the best way to have peaceful fearless pregnancy and have an easy labour.
