APPLIED YOGA PHILOSOPHY
Duration: 34 hours Tuition: $625 Prerequisites: None
In this yoga philosophy course you will have the opportunity to actively explore the historical narratives that informed yoga’s philosophy and the practices that are popular today. While yoga’s form has changed over several centuries, its innate philosophies and teachings of self-awareness, attention and union continue to influence our spirituality and our human experience. These teaching in turn support living a life aligned with our soul’s deepest expression (svabhava). Study includes but is not limited to:
- The use of asana practice, meditation, imagery, myth, collage and story-telling to illuminate the unchanging nature of yoga, the evolution of its philosophy, and the creation of yoga dogma as is current in this culture.
- Experiential study to connect you with the timelessness of yoga as a physical, spiritual and psychological practice.
- An awakened awareness of yoga’s past and of the roots of your personal yoga practice, providing a stronger foundation upon which to build your personal and professional future.
This course is a required course for the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner Certification. It can also be taken independently for continuing education credits, personal interest and development or in conjunction with another yoga therapy school’s program, with that school’s permission.
